Job summary

Waterbury Public Schools seeks an Instructional Tutor - Spanish at the International School to support students at risk through targeted tutoring and language assistance. The role operates part-time under grant funding with non-union status, reporting to the principal or a higher-grade administrator.

The tutor will provide bilingual support, track progress, and collaborate with teachers to reinforce academic skills in Math, Reading, and Language Arts as needed.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
• Preferred: Connecticut Residents
• Fluency in the applicable language(s), Spanish preferred.
• Employment is conditional upon a valid teaching certificate/endorsement and background check.

Responsibilities

• Answers questions on course content, and aids in the comprehension of course materials;
• Assists with translations verbally and in writing;
• Builds math skills;
• Collaborates with the classroom teacher and specialists in providing appropriate academic tutoring services and feedback;
• Communicates with students, parents, and teachers, regarding students' overall performance;
