Qualifications

  • Bachelors/degree in ultrasonography or equivalent from an accredited program.
  • Maintain or be eligible for ARDMS certification.
  • ARDMS OB/GYN or Fetal Echo certification or eligible within 12 months.

  • NT experience or certification preferred.

Responsibilities

MFM Sonographer at Eastside Maternal Fetal Medicine

Pediatrix Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for a MFM Sonographer to join our team at Eastside Maternal Fetal Medicine, one of our Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics in Bellevue, WA.

The diagnostic medical Sonographer provides diagnostic ultrasound for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting. The diagnostic medical Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women. They work closely with perinatologists, providing preliminary reports and assisting with procedures.

  • Perform detailed fetal anatomical surveys, including twins and triplets. Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Assists physicians with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
  • Accurately documents exam findings, measurements, images, and procedural details in the ultrasound reporting and image archiving systems.
  • Records patient history, indications, and pertinent observations in accordance with departmental protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Generates clear, comprehensive preliminary reports for interpreting physician review and final signature.
  • Reviews completed studies with interpreting physicians to communicate findings, address questions, and support diagnostic accuracy.
  • Ensures documentation is complete, timely, and compliant with organizational policies, accreditation requirements, and patient safety standards.
  • Selects and assigns appropriate exam types, procedures, and indication (diagnosis) codes based on services performed, clinical documentation, and provider orders to support accurate reporting, interpretation, and billing.
  • Escorts patients and accompanying family members to and from the examination room in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Prepares patients for ultrasound examinations by verifying identity, reviewing relevant history, and ensuring comfort and privacy.
  • Explains complex procedures and examinations to patients and family.
  • Provides reassurance and clear communication throughout the exam to support patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
  • Ensures the appropriate consent and/or declinations are obtained.
  • Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintains laundry for examination rooms.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies
  • Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.
  • Follows and complies with universal precautions and OSHA standards. Follows and complies with safety and security training.
  • Rotates to other locations as needed to cover Sonographer absences.
  • Performs related and other assigned duties as directed.

Education:

  • Satisfactory completion of one of the following; graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent, at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job- training in ultrasonography, or graduate from an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent
  • Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
  • ARDMS OB/GYN or Fetal Echo (FE) certified or eligible to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
  • NT experience or certification preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred

Experience

  • Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment.

  • Ability to recognize ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care and acts in a non-directive, non-judgemental manner, recognizing an individuals religious, ethical, and moral opinions/beliefs.

Pay Range (Base Pay): $46.39 - $89.72 per hour.

Starting Pay Range (Base Pay): $47.00 - $80.00 per hour.

Part time is defined as Non-clinical Team Members who are consistently scheduled and work 20 to 29 hours on a weekly basis.

NOTE: A team member who is at least 21 years old and is an active full-time or part-time employee is eligible to participate in our 401(k) Plan at the time of hire and contributions will begin as soon as administratively possible.

A team member is eligible to begin participating in the ESPP if they have been employed by Pediatrix for two consecutive months prior to the start of each calendar quarterly offering period and are scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours per week for five consecutive months during the year.

Paid Time Off: Pediatrix does not offer PTO to regular part-time team members.

Paid Holidays: Pediatrix does not offer paid holidays to regular part-time members.

Paid Sick Leave: Part-time regular team members will accrue one hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked. Team members begin to accrue sick leave upon hire. However, they cannot use accrued sick leave until their 90th day of employment. There is no annual cap on accrual; however, team members will be able to carry over up to 108 hours of unused paid sick leave to the following year.

NOTE: The Company will not pay team members for unused sick leave upon termination of employment.
