Mate, Inc. is seeking a part-time software engineer to move fast on iOS and web features. You’ll work directly with the founding team in a high-ownership role, building SwiftUI components and React interfaces while shaping the technical foundation.

The role covers backend logic with Node.js and AWS Lambda, reliability improvements, and design-to-code implementation from Figma. Remote (US-based) with 10–25 hours per week; equity or equity plus stipend depending on experience.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role.

Engineering Environment

We operate a modern, AI-augmented engineering workflow designed for rapid iteration and high leverage.

Engineers work within an environment where AI agents assist with implementation, experimentation, and infrastructure tasks, while humans retain full ownership of architecture and technical decisions.

Engineers have access to:

• Remote Mac mini build machines for iOS compilation, simulator testing, and automated artifact generation
• AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex) that assist with implementation, refactoring, and exploration of alternative approaches
• A custom development workflow where GitHub issues can generate parallel feature variants, enabling engineers to evaluate multiple implementations or UX approaches quickly
• Automated build, test, and simulator workflows executed on dedicated machines
• Structured dev and staging environments for safe deployment and iteration
• Serverless infrastructure with isolated stages for rapid backend experimentation

This environment allows engineers to prototype, evaluate, and ship improvements quickly, combining human judgment with AI-assisted execution.
