Job summary

Overview

Rate of Pay: $15.00+ hourly. Pay varies by level of certification and experience. Hatcher Alpine Xperience is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization developing Skeetawk, a new alpine ski, snowboard, and recreation facility in Hatcher Pass (Palmer), Alaska. We are hiring part-time Snowboard Instructors to teach group and private lessons to guests of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Execute private and group lessons in accordance with PSIA-AASI guidelines while providing positive redirection to improve student ability levels.
• Work in cooperation with rental staff, ski patrollers, lift operators, and groomers to ensure a safe and enjoyable guest experience.
• Provide availability a month in advance to allow for lesson pre-booking.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with customers of varying ages.
• Ability to snowboard at an intermediate level or better.
• Able to snowboard for extended periods of time, requiring lifting, bending, and twisting.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work outdoors in cold climates for extended periods of time.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Level 1 or higher PSIA-AASI Certification, or equivalent. (In-house training will be provided to un-certified applicants).
• Previous experience as a Snowboard Instructor.

Position Details

This is a part-time seasonal position with an average of 10 hours per week during the operating season. Part-time instructors are given greater autonomy over their schedule. Instructors must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a background check.
