Job summary

City of Pomona is seeking a Technical Specialist II – Skateboard Lead to oversee skateboarding programs for Pomona youth. The role reports to Recreation staff and involves developing programs, guiding staff, promoting safety, and aligning with City goals.

Assignment is based on needs and experience. The ideal candidate has strong skateboarding experience, youth leadership skills, and a commitment to a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of skateboarding experience, instructional preferred.
• 2 years of paid or volunteer youth work experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement skateboarding classes, camps, and programs for varied ages and skills.
• Lead the skate team and expand programming while maintaining safety.
• Coordinate with staff, partners, and city personnel to meet goals.
• Oversee risk management and safety for skateboarding programs and facilities.
• Conduct meetings and training to support program development and implementation.
• Ensure compliance with emergency procedures and document incidents.
• Effectively communicate with participants, parents, city officials, and colleagues.
• Manage skateboarding equipment and safety gear.
• Demonstrate skating ability to inspire participants.
• Utilize office software for administrative duties (Word, Excel, Access).
• Transport needs: operate a vehicle as required.
