Job summary

The Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) seeks a part-time Sign Language Interpreter/Tutor to facilitate communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students at Hart Ransom in Modesto, CA. Under the supervision of a Director of Special Programs, you will support instruction and communication between students and staff in classroom and related activities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school with coursework in American Sign Language or demonstrated interpreting competency.
• Two years of paid interpreting experience in a variety of settings (conferences, one-on-one, classroom).
• Certification: RID or elevated score on EIPA/ESSE-I/R or NAD/ACCI per CA regulation.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between deaf/hard of hearing students and hearing peers and staff in classroom and activities.
• Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to deaf/hard of hearing students.
