Job summary

The Kensington Hotel is seeking a part-time server to work with our Off-site catering department. The schedule may be flexible, with afternoons and early evenings being the most necessary. Benefits for our part time associates include:

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must communicate in English.
• Self-starting with even disposition.
• Professional appearance and manner at all times.
• Willing to pitch in and help coworkers.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
• Ability to follow written product labeling instructions.
• Ability to remember and promote menu items.
• Ability to transport up to 30 lbs.
• Operate beverage equipment such as coffee maker.

Responsibilities

• Attend pre-meal meetings before events to learn function particulars and expectations.
• Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Serve the food and/or beverage to Supervisor’s expectations; promptly clear dishes after each course.
• Ensure compliance with all State, Federal and Corporate alcohol-serving requirements.
• Replenish beverages and check guest satisfaction.
• Reset banquet room after events to be ready for the next function.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will:

• Attend pre-meal meetings before events to learn function particulars and expectations.


• Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.


• Serve the food and/or beverage to Supervisor’s expectations. Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function.


• Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.


• Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.


• Once banquet is complete, reset banquet room according to Supervisor’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function.


• Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older


• Must have the ability to communicate in English. Can communicate well with guests.


• Self-starting personality with an even disposition.


• Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.


• Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.


• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette. Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.


• Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.


• Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.


• Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis.


• Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker.


• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and customers.
