Job summary

Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston Texas is seeking a part-time Transportation Aide to provide safe, reliable non-emergency transport for seniors and individuals with special needs to medical, personal care, and grocery visits from 5601 S. Braeswood.

You will operate vehicles, assist passengers, plan efficient routes using maps or GPS, keep vehicles clean, maintain fuel and basic maintenance, and communicate with the transportation scheduler.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with working with seniors.
• Excellent communication skills. Able to interact professionally with all levels of internal and external personnel.
• Must possess and maintain a safe driving record.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Have aStrong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for passengers, clients, and the public.
• Willingness to be flexible and available to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for special events.
• Willingness to perform job tasks not part of immediate job responsibilities but aides in member satisfaction and getting the job done.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.
• Assist passengers, including handicapped, in and out of the vehicle.
• Read and interpret maps provided by supervisor or use GPS on phone to plan the most efficient route service for participants.
• Keep the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.
• Responsible for ensuring the vehicle(s) gas is always full and that vehicle maintenance is completed.
• Check in with transportation scheduler daily.
• Report to appropriate staff any concerns regarding participants.
• Report vehicle issues to supervisor.
• Facilitate casual conversations with clients.
