Job summary

The NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services seeks a part-time Senior Training Technician to support the State Preparedness Training Center. The incumbent reports to the Training Unit at SPTC and leads training delivery in homeland security and disaster preparedness, ensuring safety and compliance with established protocols.

Responsibilities include coordinating with logistics for equipment, performing course evaluations, preparing reports, and contributing to special projects

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in an appropriate discipline or subject matter.
• Instructor Certification programs or equivalent processes as listed by NYS DHSES.
• Compliance with safety and training standards as required by DHSES.

Responsibilities

• Provide first responder training focused on Homeland Security, Natural Disaster Preparedness and Recovery, and Weapons of Mass Destruction.
• Follow and enforce safety protocols at the State Preparedness Training Center (SPTC).
• Assist with performance and needs assessments during training.
• Coordinate with logistics to obtain equipment for course delivery.
• Deliver training curricula ensuring objectives are met safely.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, and evaluations of courses delivered at the SPTC.
• Manage overall course delivery and safety.
• Perform other projects and duties supporting training and the SPTC.
