Job summary

Astoria Healthcare Center is seeking a dedicated Activity Assistant to plan and facilitate social and recreational events for our residents. This PART_TIME position focuses on enriching residents' lives and promoting engagement in a supportive care setting.

Ideal candidates communicate effectively, have a high school diploma (hospitality degree a plus), and possess basic computer skills. Flexible scheduling is offered to fit personal needs while delivering compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills for both small and large groups.
• Understanding care needs of the elderly and chronically ill.
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and scheduling.
• High school diploma; hospitality-related degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating residents' backgrounds, interests, abilities, and needs to develop meaningful activities.
• Develop and maintain attendance records and chart documentation.
• Maintain a list of residents not participating in group activities and track participation.
• Demonstrate knowledge of disabilities and illnesses and their impact on activity engagement.
• Assist in developing and posting a monthly activities calendar and coordinate with services.
• Maintain quarterly progress notes and conduct reviews toward activity goals.
• Assist and facilitate monthly resident council meetings and support advocacy.
• Perform other duties as requested.
