Job summary

Kanesville Elementary in Ogden, Utah is seeking a part-time SEL Special Education Paraprofessional to support the classroom and student behavioral plans. The role involves assisting the SEL teacher, implementing behavior supports, and collecting data to inform instruction.

Work Schedule: 3.0 hours per day (15 hours/week) during the 180-day calendar, with potential for grant- or enrollment-based funding adjustments.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods
• Must be able to move from sitting on floor to standing repeatedly
• Safely manage physical or verbally aggressive students
• Participate in required school and district training (e.g. van certification)
• Attendance is an essential function of this position, in-person collaboration required

Responsibilities

• Assist the SEL teacher and related service staff in instructional and non-instructional activities for students with significant behavioral disabilities
• Develop and implement classroom supports and intervention plans under supervision
• Collect data on student behaviors and recommend instructional modifications
• Monitor students to provide a safe and positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Adapt to changing work priorities and maintain confidentiality
• Provide accommodations for students (e.g., reading tests aloud, scribe, alternate locations)
• Drive district vehicles for transportation of students as needed
