Job summary

Roy Junior High in Roy, Utah seeks a SEL Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with significant behavioral needs. The role assists the SEL teacher, implements supports, and helps maintain a productive classroom environment in multiple settings.

The position is 180 days with 5.75 hours daily. Responsibilities include data collection, collaboration with staff, providing accommodations, and crisis management while driving district vehicles when needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to assume and maintain various postures for extended periods.
• Able to move from floor seating to standing repeatedly.
• Willing to participate in school/district training (e.g., Mandt).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience in education or with students is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the SEL teacher and related service staff in instructional and non-instructional activities.
• Develop and implement classroom supports and behavior plans.
• Collaborate with school teams to support instruction without disruption.
• Collect data regarding student behaviors and recommend instructional modifications.
• Provide accommodations such as reading tests aloud or check-in/check-out support.
• Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
• Drive district vehicles to transport students to/from school and other locations.
• Remain calm in crisis situations and respond appropriately.
• Participate in Mandt training and other required professional development.
