Job summary

Allied Universal, a leading security and facility services company in North America, is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer at a historic visitor site in Jersey City, NJ. The role involves screening visitors and packages, monitoring access points, and delivering professional customer service in a government facility setting.

You will work a set schedule (Wed, Sat, Sun) with shifts from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM and earn pay at $30.55 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of security experience.
• Be able to lift more than 20 pounds.
• X-ray screening experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Age 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by federal/state/local laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors and personnel by carrying out screening procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Screen visitors, bags, packages, and other permitted items in accordance with established government facility procedures and access requirements.
• Monitor access points and assist with directing visitors to appropriate entrances, screening areas, and public locations.
• Respond to incidents, prohibited-item findings, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned public areas, access points, and perimeter locations to help identify and report unusual activity or conditions.
