Job summary

Jostens, a longstanding leader in student commemorative products, seeks a part-time security associate in Minnesota. The role covers access control, badge verification, CCTV monitoring, and incident reporting across several site locations, including Eagan and Southtown areas.

The shift runs 4pm–12:30am with backup daytime hours. The position requires 1+ year security experience, a high school diploma or GED, the ability to pass a background check, and strong communication.

• Remain levelheaded in stressful situations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Available to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Able to kneel, carry, bend, walk and stand for extended periods.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and secure entrances and dock areas using the BMS system.
• Ensure employees and visitors have proper credentials (ID badges/passes).
• Inspect identification and enforce security policies.
• Monitor CCTV across multiple locations.
• Authorize vendors and vehicles at the South Security entrance.
• Patrol designated areas per security procedures.
• Identify and respond to security risks and emergencies.
• Escalate incidents to law enforcement when needed.
• Complete incident reports and required documentation.
• Answer calls and operate paging system.

Job description

SHIFT: Ability to work 4pm-12:30am, 12am-8:30am plus backup daytime shifts

HOURS: 10 -20 hours a week

This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all employees, vendors, and visitors on the company premises as well as overseeing and protecting company assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor and secure entrance and exit points including dock areas using BMS system
• Ensure all employees and visitors have proper credentials for accessing buildings (ID badges and passes)
• Inspect that all employees and visitors have proper, visible identification and that security policies are being enforced
• Monitor CCTV video surveillance cameras for Eagan, Montreal, Corporate and all locations in Owatonna
• Authorize vendors and vehicles into the South Security entrance including precious metal deliveries
• Patrol designated areas in accordance with outlined security procedures
• Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly
• Respond to emergencies and incidents within designated areas promptly and according to policy including chemical alarms
• Escalate emergency situations to law enforcement as needed
• Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents
• Answer incoming phone calls and use of a paging system
• Assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of designated areas
• Assist employees and visitors with any concerns they might have
• Report non-routine or suspicious activities to management
• Operate X-ray, body imaging scanner and metal detecting equipment
• Report and maintain all cameras are always in working condition
• Daily security runs to Broadway location and post office (if at Southtown)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• 1+ years’ security-related work experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to pass a background check
• Ability to stay levelheaded and respond quickly in stressful situations
• Proficient written and oral communication skills
• Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Comfortable kneeling, carrying, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods of time
• Ability to perform continuous physical exertion as needed
• Working knowledge of basic security techniques
• First Aid Training
• Must be available to work overtime as required
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Good communication and people skills

Preferred:

• First Aid Certification
• Formal post-secondary training in security

PAY TRANSPARANCY:

The salary range is $17.00/hour to $18.00/hour.
