Job summary

City of Westerville seeks seasonal Leaf Crew workers for outdoor leaf collection and maintenance duties. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime opportunities as needed. The season runs for about 12 weeks through December 2026.

Under the Public Service Maintenance Supervisor, workers will clear leaves, maintain equipment, and operate in varying weather conditions. A high school diploma or GED and a valid Ohio driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid State of Ohio driver's license.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to develop a working knowledge of methods, materials, practices and tools.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and function within broad guidelines.
• Ability to work effectively with other City personnel and the public.

Responsibilities

• Performs leaves removal from streets and property as assigned.
• Maintains equipment and reports problems to supervisor.
• Works in adverse weather conditions during the season.
• Follows directions from the Public Service Maintenance Supervisor.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job description

The Seasonal Leaf Crew positions are scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with overtime opportunities available on an as needed basis. The season ends in December 2026.

NATURE OF WORK

Performs physically demanding outdoor leaf collection and maintenance duties, as assigned, for approximately 12 weeks during the season.

This work is performed under the direction of the Public Service Maintenance Supervisor.

(May not include all duties performed.)

• Performs tasks necessary to remove leaves from Westerville streets and property
• Carries out any assigned responsibilities relating to the City of Westerville Service Department as directed by supervisors
• Carries out additional responsibilities as assigned
• Cleans and maintains equipment and reports problems to supervisor
• This position is required to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions
• Performs other related duties as assigned
