Job summary

The Austin Centers for Exceptional Students in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Part Time Van Driver to transport students on scheduled routes and field trips in a school setting. You will ensure the vehicle is safe and students are protected during loading and unloading.

Responsibilities include completing required reports, performing pre-trip inspections, fueling and maintaining vehicles, and providing basic first aid when needed while upholding classroom-like safety standards for all students.

Qualifications

• Requires certification in first aid/CPR and a valid license to operate school buses.
• Physical demands are high: 75% sitting, 20% walking, 5% standing; safe operation required.
• Must read maps and communicate in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares reports (mileage, condition, incidents) for documentation.
• Drives district vehicles on regular routes and school trips safely and on time.
• Assesses incidents or emergencies and escalates as needed.
• Communicates with parents, students, teachers, and dispatchers.
• Performs pre-trip inspections and fuels vehicles as needed.
• Provides first aid when required and monitors student safety during transit.
• Maintains cleanliness and interior/exterior condition of vehicles.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
