North River Collaborative in Rockland, Massachusetts is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our district high school team. The position offers 3 days per week with a short-term or full-year commitment.

The role includes conducting assessments, developing IEPs, delivering evidence-based therapy, and collaborating with educators, parents, and staff to support student communication and language goals.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in speech and language pathology from an accredited school.
  • License from MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the MA Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Experience with AAC/AT preferred
  • Three or more years of school-based and/or pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform contextual observations and screenings as requested to determine if there is a need for an evaluation.
  • Provide assessment and evaluation procedures for referred students in accordance with special education regulations and North River Collaborative policies and procedures.
  • Use appropriate standardized and/or non-standardized measures of specific aspects of speech, spoken and non-spoken language, social skills, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function, including contextual observations and analysis of work samples.
  • Communicate results of screenings and evaluations and other Speech and Language reports to the educational staff, parents, students (when appropriate), administrators or others as needed.
  • In conjunction with the team, contribute to the Individualized Educational Plan.
  • Plan and develop evidence-based interventions that are designed to improve student communication and optimize their performance through specific adaptations and accommodations.
  • Provide therapy in the least restrictive and appropriate setting based on individual needs of students.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness through observation, data collection and analysis, re-evaluation, and communication with other staff members. Revise intervention plan and goals as necessary.
  • Complete progress reports, annual reviews and three-year re-evaluations and other reports as needed.
  • Consult with educators and other school staff to offer curricular and communication supports to facilitate students’ academic, communication, and social skills in the educational environment.
  • Provide training to educators, parents and other school staff as needed to support implementation of recommended procedures or adaptations.
  • Support students’ other educational goals across school settings.
  • Assist in ordering, fabricating or adapting augmentative communication aids/assistive technology to meet the educational and environmental needs of the students.
  • Maintain an inventory of Speech and Language technology and supplies and keep supplies clean and orderly.
  • Communicate with outside professionals or agencies as related to students’ educational needs in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.
  • Act as a resource to students, parents and staff members who wish to further their understanding of speech and language pathology.
