Job summary

Monmouth-Ocean Educational School District is seeking a Part-Time Paraprofessional/Instructional Assistant for Lakewood Schools (Middle and High School). This role supports students under teacher supervision and works with the school team to help learners progress. Typical schedule is about 27.5 hours per week (7:00 a.m.

- 1:30 p.m.) with a 30-minute unpaid break. Salary is $21.65 per hour. Enrollment in the NJ State Pension System and adherence to the school calendar are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (required).
• 60+ college credits or Praxis Parapro (preferred).
• Experience with children in a school setting preferred.
• Good organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and email.
• Ability to pass criminal history check and show proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.
• Ability to communicate and have command of the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with daily activities under teacher supervision.
• Perform simple classroom tasks and errands to support learning.
• Collaborate with teachers to help students meet goals and milestones.
• Reinforce material introduced by the teacher in class.
• Move with students between classes and supervise transitions.
• Support students in academic, social, and emotional development.
• Establish professional relationships with students.
• Maintain regular attendance, appearance, and punctuality.
• Assist students with physical limitations when needed.
• Greet and supervise students at the start and end of day as required.
• Carry out tasks assigned by the supervisor or designee.
