Job summary

Gretna Public Schools in Gretna, Nebraska, is seeking a part-time Cafeteria Worker in the Nutrition Services department. The role involves food preparation, serving students and staff, and maintaining a clean kitchen.

Hours are 9:00 am–2:00 pm, Monday through Friday, August–May with summers off. Starting pay begins at $18.45 per hour, with higher rates for experience and for high school levels.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED preferred.
• Possess any required Food Handler’s permit and any other required certification and training.
• Previous food service experience, customer service experience, and cash handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, portioning, and serving food and beverages.
• Cashiering and maintaining accurate records of payments.
• Cleanup duties: clean and arrange eating, service, and food preparation areas, wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils and other cooking equipment to ensure cleanliness and functional operation, and proper storage of leftovers.
• Arrange tables and decorations according to instructions.
• Compile and maintain records of food and beverage use and expenditures.
• Plan or assist with meeting special dietary or nutritional restrictions of students.
