Qualifications

• DESE Licensed MA School Nurse current, or ability to attain within one school year of hire
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Demonstrated success in caring, kindness, and respect in nursing practice
• Experience in child health nursing, preferably school setting
• Experience/training with pediatric emergencies, screenings, diabetes care, health assessments
• Knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
• Coordinate services between school, health agency and community resources
• Proficient with computer skills
• Flexible and efficient in busy setting and collaborative
• Demonstrates sound judgment, integrity and student confidentiality
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal)
• Detail oriented

Responsibilities

• Duties include managing a busy health office and maintaining health records
• Dispensing medication and implementing health mandates
• Provide support to families, students and staff
• Perform basic health screenings (hearing, vision, BMI)
• Update students' medical history and immunization records
• Maintain a safe, orderly health office environment
• Collaborate with admin and staff through meetings and student support teams
• Develop IHCP, 504 plans or assist with IEPs
• Communicate significant health events to families as appropriate
• Consult with health providers and agencies to improve practice
