Job summary

Sheltering Arms is seeking a Part-Time Food Service Assistant to support meal preparation, record keeping, and sanitation across childcare centers. You will help prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks, follow CACFP guidelines, and maintain a safe kitchen environment.

You should be able to lift 35 lbs and work well with children and staff. A high school diploma or GED is required, and experience with menu planning or USDA meal patterns is a plus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of nutritional values of foods in substitutions.
• Able to relate to children and adults positively.
• Able to lift 35 lbs without assistance (50 lbs with assistance).
• Familiar with USDA meal patterns.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritious meals for children across centers.
• Work with Food Service Manager to prepare meals and snacks.
• Follow menus and production records; document as needed.
• Assist with inventory, orders, and invoices for food/supplies.
• Maintain sanitation and safety in all kitchen areas.
• Post current menus and information on special diets.
