Job summary

Independence Preparatory Academy in Fairfield, AL is seeking a Part-Time Custodian to keep classrooms, hallways, and common areas clean, safe, and ready for daily learning. The role reports to the Dean of School Operations and offers a four-hour work day at $13 per hour with no benefits.

The successful candidate will perform daily cleaning, basic maintenance, report safety issues, and assist with event setup as needed. Prior custodial experience and a background check are required.

Qualifications

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred (school setting a plus).
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must pass a background check in compliance with Alabama state law.

Responsibilities

• Daily Cleaning & Maintenance of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeteria and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect surfaces; empty trash; manage waste disposal.
• Refill soap, paper towels, and sanitizer dispensers.
• Maintain readiness of spaces for the next school day; assist with event setup and end-of-day procedures.
