Job summary

New London Public Schools in New London, CT, is seeking a Part-Time Custodian at Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School to help maintain a safe, clean environment for students and staff. You will report to the Facilities Manager and perform duties such as cleaning spaces, locking/unlocking premises, and restocking supplies.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, the ability to read safety rules and manuals, plus basic math and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Knowledge of basic math functions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and monitors designated spaces and equipment including sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and waxing and rubbish removal.
• Assists in seasonal grounds work such as snow and ice removal.
• Unlocks and locks premises and secures windows; manages alarm systems.
• Cleans and maintains custodial equipment daily after use.
• Takes monthly fuel readings and forwards results to the Business Office when applicable.
• Restocks consumable items and provides an inventory to lead custodian.
• Assists in unloading freight and distributes to respective areas.
• Works as a team with custodians during school breaks and summer.
