Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of custodial, janitorial, or comparable commercial cleaning experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience cleaning schools or other public facilities preferred.
• Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and follow cleaning and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently, manage assigned tasks, and maintain dependable attendance.
• Willingness to work the assigned schedule, including evenings or school events as needed.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and maintain floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning products.
• Empty waste and recycling containers and dispose of materials properly.
• Clean windows, doors, furniture, fixtures, and frequently touched surfaces.
• Restock restroom and custodial supplies and notify the supervisor when additional supplies are needed.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, and buffers.
• Follow instructions for the safe use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Identify and promptly report safety hazards, maintenance needs, equipment problems, and building damage.
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks within the scope of training and assigned responsibilities.
• Set up and move furniture, equipment, and supplies for school activities and events.
• Assist with building security by securing assigned doors and windows and reporting concerns.
• Respond promptly to spills and other cleaning needs.
• Assist with exterior cleanup, entrances, walkways, and seasonal tasks as assigned.
• Maintain respectful, professional relationships with students, staff, and visitors.
• Attend required training and perform other duties as assigned.
