Job summary

QSAC is seeking a Part-Time School Custodian for our Bronx School in Bronx, NY to uphold cleanliness, safety and appearance of the facility. This role supports a busy school environment and requires reliable, detail-oriented individuals.

Typical hours are 7am–1pm, Monday through Friday, with a pay range of $16.50–$20.00 per hour. High school diploma or GED preferred; 1–2 years maintenance/cleaning experience and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to building and safety codes to ensure health and safety of facilities and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout facilities and complete daily/weekly/monthly checklists.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and use them responsibly.
• Safely handle equipment and supplies to prevent damage and theft.
• Complete projects such as moving furniture, deliveries, painting, and minor repairs as needed.
• Perform cleaning of bathrooms/kitchen, mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming; garbage removal.

Job Summary

If you take pride in cleanliness, organization and safety then you may be a fit to work in our Bronx School as a part of the QSAC team! The School Custodian is responsible for upholding the safety and appearance of the physical school location in the Bronx, NY.

This is a part time position.

The salary range for this position is $16.50-$20.00 an hour. The hours for this role would ideally be from 7am-1pm M-F.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Building Maintenance

• Adhere to building/maintenance/codes to ensure health, safety & welfare of facilities, individual and employees


• Maintain cleanliness throughout facilities, completing assigned checklists that include daily, weekly, and monthly detail


• Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and use responsibly


• Demonstrate safety and care of equipment and suppliesto protect from damage and theft


• Complete projects including moving furniture, deliveries, painting, plastering, etc. in an efficient and timely manner.


• Responsibilities include, but limited to, cleaning bathrooms/kitchen, mopping, sweeping, and/or vacuuming floors, Hygienic cleaning, and garbage collection and removal.


• Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine best way to fix problems and communicate delays or emergency reassignments to supervisor


• Respond promptly to program needs throughout facility


• Identify problems in the facility and inform supervisor as soon as they are discovered


• Work independently in the building, staying focused on assigned tasks and priorities


• Prioritize work to complete time sensitive issues first


• Report to work for snow removal as needed


• Maintain family and individual confidentiality


• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management

Qualifications & Work Experience

• High school diploma/GED preferred


• Must have 1-2 years’ general maintenance and facility cleaning skills


• Drivers license highly preferred


• Requires the ability to read, write and communicate effectively with others


• Attendance and punctuality is essential


• Collaboration and flexibility is expected
