Job summary

QSAC is seeking a part-time School Custodian for our Bronx School. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized environment to support students and staff.

You will handle building maintenance, cleaning duties, and basic facility tasks while adhering to safety protocols and confidentiality requirements. The schedule is typically 7am-1pm, Monday through Friday, with duties contributing to a positive, secure school setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• 1-2 years’ general maintenance and facility cleaning skills.
• Drivers license highly preferred.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to building/maintenance codes to ensure health, safety and welfare of facilities, individuals and employees.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout facilities with daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and use responsibly.
• Demonstrate safety and care of equipment and supplies to protect from damage and theft.
• Complete projects including moving furniture, deliveries, painting, plastering, etc. efficiently.
• Perform cleaning of bathrooms/kitchen, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, hygienic cleaning and garbage removal.
• Identify problems and inform supervisor; troubleshoot and communicate delays or emergencies.
• Work independently, stay focused on tasks and priorities; prioritize time-sensitive issues.

QSAC is a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services. QSAC pursues this mission through direct services that provide a supportive and individualized setting for children and adults with autism to improve their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills.

Job Summary

If you take pride in cleanliness, organization and safety then you may be a fit to work in our Bronx School as a part of the QSAC team! The School Custodian is responsible for upholding the safety and appearance of the physical school location in the Bronx, NY.

This is a part time position.

The salary range for this position is $16.50-$20.00 an hour. The hours for this role would ideally be from 7am-1pm M-F.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Building Maintenance

• Adhere to building/maintenance/codes to ensure health, safety & welfare of facilities, individual and employees
• Maintain cleanliness throughout facilities, completing assigned checklists that include daily, weekly, and monthly detail
• Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and use responsibly
• Demonstrate safety and care of equipment and suppliesto protect from damage and theft
• Complete projects including moving furniture, deliveries, painting, plastering, etc. in an efficient and timely manner.
• Responsibilities include, but limited to, cleaning bathrooms/kitchen, mopping, sweeping, and/or vacuuming floors, Hygienic cleaning, and garbage collection and removal.

Policies & Communication

• Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine best way to fix problems and communicate delays or emergency reassignments to supervisor
• Respond promptly to program needs throughout facility
• Identify problems in the facility and inform supervisor as soon as they are discovered
• Work independently in the building, staying focused on assigned tasks and priorities
• Prioritize work to complete time sensitive issues first
• Report to work for snow removal as needed
• Maintain family and individual confidentiality
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management
