Job summary

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is seeking a part-time School Crossing Guard in Sanford, FL to safely assist schoolchildren, parents, and citizens crossing streets near schools. Applicants must complete a notarized background waiver and provide required documents, including a high school diploma or GED and a valid Florida driver’s license.

Working hours are Monday–Friday mornings and afternoons. Training and certifications are mandatory, with compliance to Florida FDOT/MUTCD guidelines.

Responsibilities

Ensure the safety of pedestrians at crossings (school-aged children, parents, and citizens).
Be aware of surroundings at all times and report suspicious activity.
Provide education to students and parents on safe crossing procedures.
Follow MUTCD requirements and use of mandatory equipment (stop paddle, vest, whistle).
Utilize stand-back lines and safety lines.
Provide clear verbal communication for pedestrian safety.
Perform all other duties as assigned or required.
