Job summary

The City of Huntsville’s Public Safety division is seeking qualified applicants for Part-Time Safety Patrol Aide positions to join our growing team. Safety Patrol provides crossing guards for public and private schools, safeguarding tens of thousands of students daily and aiding in safe pedestrian and vehicle flow in school zones.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, pass a fingerprint background check, complete a pre-employment form, and have reliable

Qualifications

• High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s licence.
• Must pass a fingerprinting background check.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application.
• Must have reliable means of receiving work assignments, i.e., phone, text, email, etc.
• Must have reliable means of reporting to assigned work locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide crossing guard services for public and private schools.
• Help ensure the safety of students and pedestrians in school zones.
• Assist with traffic flow during special events.
