Job summary

Young World Physical Education in Waynesville, North Carolina, is seeking a Part-Time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide school-based OT services under a licensed Occupational Therapist.

You will implement treatment plans, document progress, collaborate with teachers and families, attend meetings, and help students develop fine motor and sensory skills within IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited OT Assistant program.
• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant credential.
• Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure.
• Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred.
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, and school-based OT practices preferred.
• Ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Implement OT interventions as directed by the supervising OT.
• Provide direct and small-group therapy per IEP goals and treatment plans.
• Document therapy sessions, progress, and attendance timely.
• Collect data and communicate progress to the supervising OT.
• Assist with classroom accommodations and adaptive equipment.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student needs.
• Prepare and organize therapy materials and equipment.
• Maintain FERPA confidentiality of student records.
• Attend IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings as requested.
• Support sensory strategies and classroom interventions.
• Monitor changes in student performance and report concerns.
• Maintain licensure compliance and continuing education.
• Perform other duties within the COTA scope.
