Job summary

Uintah School District in Utah invites applications for a Certified Occupational Therapist / COTA / PT (20 Hrs. Weekly) to implement the therapeutic program prescribed by the occupational therapist and support students with special needs.

The COTA collaborates with staff and families, collects progress data, and contributes to individual goals while adhering to district policies and ASPEN behavior guidelines.

Qualifications

• Valid Utah Licensure as a COTA.
• Ability to read, write and communicate with students, staff, and parents.
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred.
• Ability to travel to/from various school buildings within the district boundaries.
• Ability to lift and position students (30-80 pounds).
• Ability to make minor decisions with minimal supervision in accordance with procedures.
• Ability to participate in ASPEN approved behavior management procedures.

Responsibilities

• Promote independence in activities of daily living through problem solving and adaptations.
• Observe and suggest positioning techniques to maximize educational participation.
• Consult and assist classroom staff through information sharing at team meetings.
• Discuss and exchange information about assigned students with the occupational therapist.
• Utilize task analysis to guide feeding and daily living skills for school performance.
• Implement the individualized/small group therapy program prescribed by the OT.
• Collaborate with colleagues and parents to plan and implement student programs.
• Assist OT in determining extent goals are met by collecting data on student goals.
• Assist therapist in formulating new goals based on data analysis.
