Job summary

Monsignor Slade Catholic School, Inc. in Aberdeen, MD seeks a caring Part-Time Extended Care Aide to support the school’s Extended Care Program. You will supervise children, assist with activities, and help implement daily routines in a faith-filled environment.

The role requires 16+ years of age, strong communication, and willingness to complete required health and safety training. Prior childcare experience is preferred, with opportunities for growth within the program.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Previous childcare experience is preferred.
• Ability to interact with children in a calm, patient and caring manner.
• Required training in Basic Health and Safety, etc. can be provided if needed (will need to maintain 6 hours of training annually).
• Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, walk, bend and reach; must be able to lift children as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children at all times and maintain a safe environment.
• Follow Teacher’s directions during lesson plans and activities to support development.
• Implement daily routines to foster social skills and behaviors.
• Provide care to children, including hygiene and safety tasks.
• Assist Teacher with setup of materials and activities to enhance learning.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks related to the classroom.
• Engage children in play and interactions in a nurturing manner.
• Assist the Teacher in meeting physical and emotional needs.
• Promote cooperation, kindness and respect among children.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
