Job summary

CHANDLER UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CHANDLER HIGH SCHOOL is seeking a part-time Cafe Associate to assist in the food service operation. The role focuses on serving meals, handling cash transactions, and maintaining high standards of safety and customer service in a school setting.

Starting immediately, the position involves varied shift times under the 1811H/1911FT calendars, with a pay grade of 106 and hourly wages.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Current Food Handler’s Certificate or acquire within 30 days of hire
• Experience in food preparation & handling desired
• Ability to read and write English as it pertains to job functions
• Satisfactory criminal background check
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations
• Operate a computerized cash register
• Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community regarding school food programs

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of HACCP food safety guidelines
• Collect and account for prepayment and real-time transactions of student meals
• Maintain an appropriate change fund for registers
• Accurately perform cashier duties and end-of-day procedures
• Prepare, stock, and maintain serving line area and assist in food prep and clean up
• Identify reimbursable meals and ensure compliance with federal guidelines
• Safely operate standard and specialized kitchen equipment
• Set up serving line with proper equipment and safety
• Wash dishes and equipment following health guidelines
• Assist manager in HACCP monitoring and records
• Respond to customers promptly and courteously
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Ensure product quality and adherence to cooking/serving guidelines
