Job summary

Valdez City Schools in Valdez, Alaska is seeking a part-time Food Service I to start as soon as possible for the coming school year. The role involves preparing and serving breakfasts and lunches, keeping the cafeteria clean, and supporting daily food service operations.

Under supervision, you will assist in recipe prep, serve meals to students and staff, help clean dishes and surfaces, and perform related duties including special meal functions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working in food service production.
• Current food handlers' card.
• Valid State of Alaska driver's license.
• Two years of successful experience in food service production.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of food from approved recipes and prepares cafeteria and front line for lunch in a quick and timely manner.
• Serves students and staff from the cafeteria counter.
• Removes used dishes and assists in the cleaning of dishes, counters, tables, and equipment as directed.
• Performs related duties as required, including duties at special meal functions.
• Assists Food Service Manager and Food Service II workers by performing duties such as baking, vegetable/salad preparation, meat cutting, etc.
• Maintains the weekly cleanliness of walk-ins, coolers, and freezers.
