Job summary

Davenport Community Schools is seeking a part-time Food and Nutrition Services Cashier I at Jackson Elementary. The role runs 7:15 am to 1:00 pm, five and three-quarter hours daily, for 190 school days. The cashier will process sales via POS, count meals by category, and maintain accurate meal and payment records.

Excellent customer service, strong communication, and basic computer skills (Word/Excel) are needed. Internal applicants have priority until 8/10/26.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience with computer applications (Email, Word and Excel) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a point of sale terminal and document daily sales.
• Document daily counts of meals served by category.
• Maintain accurate records of meals, prepayments, milk and a la carte sales.
• Ensure correct pricing, make change, and prepare daily deposits.
• Monitor meals to comply with federal standards.
• Assist with cleaning and setup of service areas.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
