Job summary

Davenport Community Schools is seeking a Food and Nutrition Services Cashier I at Jackson Elementary to handle POS transactions, meal counts, and daily deposits on the school calendar.

This part-time role (5.75 hours/day, 190 days/year) pays $15.96 per hour and requires a high school diploma or GED; basic computer skills, including Word/Excel, are preferred.

Carry out duties with sanitation standards, assist with meal benefits, and support the cafeteria team across campus as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Computer experience (Email, Word and Excel) preferred but not required.
• Ability to operate a POS terminal and district food service software.

Responsibilities

• Operates a point of sale terminal to document daily sales using district software.
• Documents accurate daily meal counts by price category (full, reduced, free).
• Maintains records for adult meals, prepayments, milk and a la carte sales.
• Charges correct prices, handles cash, and compiles daily deposits.
• Monitors meals to ensure compliance with federal standards.
• Assists with cleaning and sanitation of cafeteria areas.
• May assist in food preparation and service setup.
• Maintains sanitation and safety standards.
• Communicates with students, staff, parents, and supervisors.
• Assists with data entry and meal benefit applications as needed.
• Performs duties per the Cashier Handbook and may cover other buildings.
