Job summary

Hastings Bus Company is seeking a part-time School Bus Route Driver to safely transport passengers on designated routes while delivering excellent customer service. The role requires clear English communication and basic mechanical knowledge for pre-trip inspections, with a sign-on bonus and paid CDL training offered.

Responsibilities include assisting passengers, maintaining records, and coordinating with dispatchers.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Experience in school bus driving preferred, but not necessary.
• Basic mechanical understanding to perform pre-trip inspections.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English; multilingual skills are a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanour.
• Ability to write reports and maintain accurate records.
• Previous experience in childcare or working with children is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a vehicle along assigned routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
• Assist passengers, including children and those with disabilities, during boarding and disembarking.
• Maintain accurate records of passenger counts, mileage, and any incidents that occur during the route.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding route changes or passenger needs.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all passengers, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
• Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
