Job summary

Green Valley Elementary School in Boone, North Carolina is seeking a part-time Bus Driver to transport students on assigned routes, perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and adhere to traffic laws and safety regulations. You will report to the Zone Transportation Supervisor and help maintain orderly student conduct aboard the bus.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid NC CDL with school bus endorsement, and the ability to document trips and complete reports.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and some experience driving large vehicles with some experience in transporting humans preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
• Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with school bus certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and documents inspections.
• Reports mechanical defects or failures to Zone Transportation Supervisor, Zone Routing Specialist, on-duty mechanic, or bus garage control center.
• Operates the assigned school bus on the route(s) and schedule provided by the Zone Transportation Supervisor.
• Maintains discipline of students aboard the bus according to the principal's plan and safety standards.
• Completes personal time card and required reports, including accident/incident reports.
• Adheres to traffic laws and school bus regulations; ensures safety in emergencies.
