Qualifications

• Must have NM commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements.
• Must pass physical examination as required by state.
• Must pass substance abuse testing as per school policy.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must meet driving and student management requirements.
• Must read and understand schedules and maps.
• Must possess strong oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient operation of the school bus in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Maintain timeliness and low absenteeism for daily assignments and trips.
• Monitor weekly hours to avoid overtime.
• Report mechanical concerns to minimize wear and extend bus life.
• Exercise student management through communication and discipline.
• Control emergencies per established procedures.
• Communicate professionally with students, parents and staff.
• Implement safety procedures for all passengers during loading/unloading.
• Maintain a safe, clean bus and facilities.
• Maintain current route sheets, student lists, stops, and times.
• Attend required trainings and meetings.
