Job summary

Divine Mercy Parish in Madison, WI invites qualified singers for the part-time Staff Singer & Section Leader role within its Sacred Music Ministry. The successful candidate will lead their vocal section during rehearsals and liturgies, perform as cantor or in small ensembles, and collaborate with the Director of Sacred Music to maintain high musical standards for parish worship.

Responsibilities include weekly rehearsals, Sunday liturgies, performance preparation, and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• Strong vocal technique.
• Excellent sight-reading skills.
• Experience with sacred polyphony and/or Gregorian chant, or willingness to develop proficiency in these repertoires.
• Ability to work effectively within a vocal ensemble.
• Ability to prepare assigned repertoire independently and respond to the choir director.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the assigned vocal section during rehearsals and liturgies, promoting musical accuracy, intonation, phrasing, and vocal blend.
• Participate in the weekly rehearsal (approximately 1.5 hours) and in assigned Sunday liturgies and Solemnities, with a general call time of 45 minutes prior to the service.
• Serve as cantor or in small vocal ensembles when requested by the program.
• Collaborate with the Director of Sacred Music and other Staff Singers in repertoire preparation and performance.
• Contribute to a musical environment characterized by professionalism, reliability, mutual respect, and collaboration.
