Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse to join the ECT suite in New Jersey.

The role offers day-shift coverage on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays from 6AM to 2PM, with scheduling flexibility and no holiday work requirements. The RN will collaborate with the health care team to provide safe, patient-centered care throughout the ECT experience, perform assessments, educate patients and caregivers, manage IVs and medications, and help ensure supplies and safety

Qualifications

• Current New Jersey RN licensure; BSN preferred.
• Minimum requirements are one (1) year of psychiatric nursing experience, or two (2) years of ICU experience.
• ANA Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing certification preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout his/her ECT experience.
• Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff.
• Provide patient education during all phases of the patient’s experience in ECT.
• Ensure that the proper supplies and equipment are available.
• Identify actual and potential risks to patients and others; take action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety in the facility.
• Review the patient chart and health history to assure that the necessary ECT evaluations have been completed; ensure consent form has been signed.
• Prepare patients for ECT by providing ongoing information to patient and caregiver to assure understanding of procedures.
• Perform nursing assessment of patient, start IV and ordered medications.
• Communicate with other health care team members to assure continuity of care.
