Job summary

Smart & Final in Banning, CA is seeking a Part-time Retail Associate for store #331. Starting rate is $16.90 per hour. Join our store operations team to deliver friendly service and help manage daily shelves and displays.

You will read and communicate in English, assist customers, stock merchandise, price items, and keep areas clean. You should be able to lift up to 60 pounds, and basic PC/Outlook skills are helpful. Weekend availability preferred.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section and stock merchandise.
• Assure proper pricing and rotation; stock shelves, displays and end caps.
• Prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays.
• Maintain sanitation standards in all store areas as directed.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable and courteous customer assistance.
• Assist customers to vehicles with purchases when requested.
• Record lost/damaged goods and store supplies for basic bookkeeping.

The Opportunity

The Part‑time Retail Associate performs management‑assigned duties, which may include but may not be limited to, stocking and maintaining a store section, carry‑out services and store cleaning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise using proper equipment (excluding power/heavy equipment)
• Assure proper pricing on merchandise, checks product date codes to validate proper rotation, stocks shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays and refrigerated/frozen cases.
• Prepares perishable products for sale as needed
• Sets up advertising/promotional displays
• Cleans and maintains sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of store and parking lot as directed by store management
• Offers friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous assistance to customers by providing them with current store and product information
• When requested, loads customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles
• Performs basic bookkeeping duties, including recording lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools
