Job summary

Chedraui USA is seeking a Part-time Associate for our Smart & Final store in Bakersfield. The role supports store operations, assists customers, stocks shelves, and processes transactions at the register.

Starting at $16.90 per hour, the position requires reading and writing English, strong customer service, and basic PC skills. Physical tasks include lifting up to 60 lbs and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Read and write English, interact with the general public and co‑workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs; frequently lift and move up to 45 lbs; occasionally lift and move up to 60 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned; order, receive, and stock merchandise using proper equipment; assure proper pricing and product rotation; stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, and refrigerated/frozen cases; prepare perishable products for sale; set up advertising/promotional displays; review invoices and bills for accuracy.
• Cleans and maintains sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas, including parking lots.
• Operate a cash register, receive payment, and make change or process check/charge/debit transactions; process cash or credit refunds when approved; verify customer eligibility when selling alcoholic beverages.
• Offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous assistance to customers by providing current store and product information; load customer purchases into vehicles when requested.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties and record lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools.

The Opportunity

The Part‑Time Associate reports to the Store Manager and performs management‑assigned duties, which may include but are not limited to receiving inventory, stocking and maintaining a store section, operating a cash register, providing carry‑out services, and maintaining store cleanliness.

Specific Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
