Job summary

Smart & Final in Palm Springs is hiring a Part-time Retail Associate for store 429. You will join our fast, friendly operations team delivering excellent customer service while handling stocking, pricing and merchandising duties.

The role requires reading and writing English, strong communication with customers and colleagues, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Starting wage is $16.90 per hour, with opportunities to grow and participate in our community-focused programs.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English and interact with the public and coworkers.
• Able to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally and up to 45 pounds frequently.
• Basic PC/Outlook skills may help with store tasks.
• Retail-focused qualifications such as extra training are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise.
• Ensure proper pricing, rotate products, and stock displays.
• Prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays.
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all areas.
• Offer friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous customer assistance.
• Assist customers to vehicles when needed.
• Record store transactions and maintain supplies.

The Opportunity

The Part-time Retail Associate performs management-assigned duties, which may include but may not be limited to, stocking and maintaining a store section, carry-out services and store cleaning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise using proper equipment (excluding power/heavy equipment)
• Assures proper pricing on merchandise, checks product date codes to validate proper rotation, stocks shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays and refrigerated/frozen cases.
• Prepares perishable products for sale as needed
• Sets up advertising/promotional displays
• Cleans and maintains sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of store and parking lot as directed by store management
• Offers friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous assistance to customers by providing them with current store and product information
• When requested, loads customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles
• Performs basic bookkeeping duties, including recording lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools
