Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program and IL licensure.
• BLS certification; ACLS/PALS/NRP within 6 months of hire.
• Hospital-based respiratory care skills and patient assessment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with providers to determine a course of care for assigned patients.
• Follow guidelines for patient assessments.
• Demonstrate competency in selected skills and equipment use.
• Educate patients on disease processes and recommended therapies.
• Perform accurate documentation per hospital guidelines.
• Participate in quality improvement studies when asked.
• Communicate findings and concerns to the department director as needed.
• Foster a positive atmosphere by cooperating with health team members, patients and families.
• Remain flexible in staffing and scheduling for provision of care, including call duties.
