Job summary

Sheppard Pratt in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a part-time on-call Residential Counselor to support individuals with serious mental illness in a residential program. You will provide a safe, therapeutic environment, assist with housing, transportation, and service plans.

Responsibilities include one-on-one client work, medication compliance oversight, collaboration with a treatment team, attendance at medical appointments, and documenting follow-up instructions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Willingness to obtain additional certifications and trainings as required.
• A driver’s license with 3 points or less and access to an insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Act as a residential counselor, working one-on-one with clients to learn or regain skills for community and independent living and socialization.
• Ensure medication compliance and responsibility for safety, dosage, and cleanliness.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary service team to develop and implement individual service plans.
• Provide transportation and attend clients’ medical appointments; document follow-up instructions.
