Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University in Hershey, PA, seeks a part-time Research Compliance Specialist to provide regulatory advisory support, assist with biosafety program management, and help with IBC protocol pre-review. This role supports the Penn State College of Medicine and the Office of the Vice Dean for Research.

The position offers 5-8 hours per week with flexible/as-needed scheduling, focusing on biosafety operations, audits, and vendor contract reviews as part of institutional safety

Qualifications

• Strategic advisory support on regulatory updates (NIH, CDC, OSHA).
• Assist with Biosafety Asset Management Program including billing and vendor contracts.
• Conduct biosafety walkthroughs for BSL-2/BSL-2+ spaces and assist with audit findings resolutions.
• Pre-review complex IBC protocols, renewals, and amendments involving campus agents.

Responsibilities

• Provide advisory support to the Biosafety Officer on upcoming regulatory updates.
• Assist with routine Biosafety Asset Management Program tasks including billing and scheduling.
• Review biosafety spaces and assist researchers in resolving audit findings or discrepancies.
• Expedite pre-review of IBC protocols and de novo renewals involving campus agents.
