Job summary

City Center YMCA in Lancaster, PA seeks a certified Red Cross Instructor (part-time) to deliver engaging, high-quality training programs that prepare participants to respond confidently in emergencies. You will teach CPR, AED, first aid, lifeguarding, and related lifesaving skills while maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Ideal candidates hold LGI, CPR PRO, and Oxygen Instructor certifications, are adept at public speaking, and can complete YMCA trainings within the first

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification.
• Current CPR PRO Instructor certification.
• Current Oxygen Instructor certification.
• Strong public speaking, communication, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to complete YMCA-required trainings within the first month of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead American Red Cross certification courses and skill evaluations.
• Teach and assess lifesaving skills including CPR, AED, oxygen, first aid, lifeguarding, and emergency response.
• Provide clear instruction, coaching, feedback, and skill corrections.
• Create a safe, engaging, and professional learning environment for all class participants.
• Set up, inspect, clean, sanitize, and store course materials and training equipment.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, course documentation, and certification paperwork.
• Collaborate with YMCA staff to coordinate training opportunities and ensure program quality.
• Serve as a professional representative of the YMCA with its core values.
• Attend required meetings, trainings, workshops, and certification renewals.
