Job summary

Luttrell Staffing Group in Knoxville, TN is hiring a Recycling Attendant for a part-time role with hours Monday-Friday 10:00a to 7:00p and weekends 10:00a-2:00p. Approximately 15-25 hours per week. Fast Start Date and weekly pay, with zero screening fees.

Responsibilities include opening/closing gated drop-off centers, assisting the public with sorting recyclables and food scraps, and maintaining a clean, safe site in accordance with city guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Capable of lifting up to 45 lbs.
• Must be able to walk, stand and be on your feet for the shift.

Responsibilities

• Open and close gated recycling drop-off centers as scheduled.
• Staff assigned recycling and food scraps drop-off centers during operating hours.
• Post signage when the site is temporarily unattended.
• Assist the public with proper sorting of recyclable materials and food scraps.
• Distribute City-provided educational materials to visitors.
• Monitor recycling and food scrap containers.
• Communicate with hauling contractors when containers require early service.
• Maintain basic records of materials hauled and center activity.
• Track the number of visitors to the center.
• Report safety concerns, incidents, or hostile interactions to KKB staff.

Job Duties for Recycling Attendant Position

• Open and close gated recycling drop-off centers as scheduled
• Staff assigned recycling and food scraps drop-off centers during operating hours
• Post signage when the site is temporarily unattended
• Assist members of the public with proper sorting of recyclable materials and food scraps
• Distribute City-provided educational materials to visitors
• Assist with visitor surveys as requested
• Monitor recycling and food scrap containers
• Remove minor contamination and properly sort misplaced materials
• Communicate with hauling contractors when containers require early service
• Control litter and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly site
• Ensure private trash dumpsters and food scrap containers are locked and used only for approved purposes
• Monitor and report unauthorized dumping following KKB and City guidelines
• Maintain basic records of materials hauled and center activity
• Track the number of visitors to the center
• Report safety concerns, incidents, or hostile interactions to KKB staff
• Attend required training provided by KKB and the City of Knoxville
• Follow established procedures and policies

Qualifications for Recycling Attendant Position

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Comfortable using hand tools such as brooms and litter grabbers
• Ability to walk, stand and be on your feet for duration of the shift
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs
• Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach
