Job summary

Nexus Disposal, Llc in Houston is seeking a manual laborer to sort non-hazardous debris in an open-air recycling area under close supervision. The role involves sorting materials by type, size or condition and assisting with loading and unloading.

The position runs Monday through Saturday, totaling 40 hours per week, with a pay rate of $14.00–$16.00 per hour. The job requires outdoor work, physical effort, and attendance at weekly safety meetings.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Sorts a variety of recycled materials by type, size or condition.
• Inspects materials and places them into containers according to category.
• Directs drivers to loading/unloading areas and assists with material movement.
• Keeps the recycle yard clean by sweeping and tidying debris.
• Attends weekly safety meetings and follows safety rules.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Under close supervision performs manual labor sorting non-hazardous debris in an open-air recycling area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location.
• Ability to inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles or places in container according to type, size or condition.
• Sorts a variety of recycled materials, such as concrete, plastics, and wood into containers or bucket loaders
• Sorts metals to separate out high-grade metals, such as copper, brass, and aluminum for recycling
• Sorts OCC (cardboard) into containers and assists with loading baler machine to prepare for shipping bales
• Keeps recycle yard clean by sweeping, raking, picking up broken glass and loose paper debris, and maneuvering barrels and bins into proper locations
• Directs drivers to proper loading/unloading areas; assists with unloading and loading recycling materials
• Must attend weekly safety meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Work Environment

• Required to have full range of body movement including reaching, bending, grasping, climbing and lifting;
• Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds most of the work day;
• Required to be exposed often to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to chemicals, etc.);
• Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, rodents, weather extremes or similar elements often;
• Setting for this job is an outdoor work site
