Job summary

City of Wichita is seeking a part-time Instructor for Park and Recreation to design and lead engaging classes across city facilities. The role involves creating course descriptions, lesson plans, and teaching activities in arts, sports, or playground programs for diverse participants.

The position is limited part-time with variable hours, not union-represented, and may require outdoor work and basic custodial duties. Training and scheduling flexibility are offered.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of the subject or activity to be taught.
• Ability to teach students with a wide variety of experience and aptitude.
• Ability to develop a class plan, and to organize and conduct classes according to the plan.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be at least 17 years old.
• Six months of experience and/or education in the subject or activity.

Responsibilities

• Designing the course and writing course descriptions.
• Developing and submitting a lesson plan and materials list.
• Instructs classes, activities, or games in an area of expertise.
• Keeps rosters and notifies supervisor of schedule changes.
• Organizes materials for class instruction and completes preparation.
